The Sponge Pad System
The Aitchison® seed distribution system, featured on both the Grassfarmer® and Seedmatic®, is a truly unique innovation that has stood the test of time. At its core is a specially designed sponge pad that delivers exceptional accuracy while being gentle on all product types—handling a wide range of seed sizes and volumes with ease, including selected fertilisers.
Paired with an infinitely variable gearbox, the system allows for precise sowing rates—from as little as 1kg/ha up to 350kg/ha—ensuring the right output for any job, whether you’re sowing fine or heavier product mixes.
The C-Slot (Disc Method)
Disc seed drills are the go-to choice for farmers working in rocky, compacted, or residue-heavy soils where tine drills may struggle. With minimal soil disturbance and precise placement, they deliver clean, consistent results—especially in challenging conditions like Kikuyu pasture or hard summer ground.
Ideal for direct drilling into existing swards or trash-covered paddocks, Aitchison Disc Drills deliver consistent seed depth and placement across all terrain types. Each model is fitted with a heavy-duty concave single disc opener that’s staggered for efficient trash flow (350mm/14” on GrassFarmer® models). These units retain moisture, protect soil structure, and enable faster ground speeds—making them a smart choice for conservation farming or variable conditions.
Disc depth is easily adjustable via mechanical or optional hydraulic control, giving operators flexibility to adapt on the go. Low maintenance and highly effective, Aitchison disc drills are built to perform season after season.
